Introduction to Early Islamic Philosophy
Throughout this course, students will go on a journey to discover the early times of Islamic Philosophy. They will learn how it relates to Greek religion and study the philosophers of this time.
This course provides a comprehensive overview of early Islamic philosophy and introduces students to complex philosophical ideas. By going through a single influential Islamic philosopher each week and understanding their key ideas, students will begin to build a picture as to what Islamic philosophy is and the relationship between the study of philosophy and religion. This course will take us on a journey to discover and understand what Islamic philosophy is and the influence of Greek religion and culture on it. Students will look at various religious Islamic philosophers and the beliefs they held, which will give them the bigger picture. Finally, students conclude by looking into the relationship between religion and philosophy.
