A comprehensive course covering the set work (Courtney Pine's 'Back in the Day') from the listening and appraising component of the Edexcel A-Level in music. This unit equips A-Level music students with the analytical, listening and writing skills, as well as the knowledge they need to excel in a listening test, 20-mark essay or 30-mark essay on Courtney Pine's 'Back in the Day' in the A-Level music listening and appraising exam. The course opens with two introductory lessons exploring the context of the album, followed by three lessons diving into the analytical detail of the study songs, and finishing with a lesson on wider listening, essay themes and exam technique. This course is suitable for more advanced students, at A-Level standard or above but is open to those with a curiosity for the subject matter, who are not necessarily taking an exam.
