This course is designed for students with an interest in space and what the future holds. Students are walked through the major players in the Second Space Age including SpaceX and Blue Origin.
At the peak of the first space age, when Man first went to the moon in 1969, the universe seemed within our grasp. However, we have not been back to the moon since 1972, and when NASA ended the shuttle programme in 2011, the promise of those heady days was a distant memory. Not anymore! Eccentric billionaires and rejuvenated national space agencies are combining to explore the final frontier in what is increasingly being called the 'Second Space-Age'. SpaceX, Blue Origin, NASA, CNSA and ESA represent some of the major forces driving the exploration of the stars forward. Covering moon bases, asteroid mining and even cars in space, this course will provide you with a thorough understanding of the revamped space industry. Additionally, this short course will introduce you to two major scientific practices benefitting from this increased activity, spectroscopy and radar.
